The Caladesi Chapter members participate in activities that will preserve the past, support the present, and enhance the future for generations to come.
Historic Preservation:
- Participate in transcription work for the DAR
- Hosts February genealogy seminar
- Conduct genealogy research weekly at Dunedin Library
- Dedicated a plaque honoring the history of Caladesi Island
- Support the DAR Library
Education:
- Participate in supporting the DAR Schools
- Offer elementary and middle school American History awards
- Present local high school students the DAR Good Citizens award
- Honor and award a JROTC graduating cadet
- Offer American History essay contest for elementary, middle, and high school students
- Participate in Teach-In at local schools
- Sponsor local Head Start children and support its program
- Participate in Junior American Citizens awards
Patriotism:
- Participate in veteran activities
- Observance of Constitution Week (Proclamation from Dunedin City Council, display at library, church service, and luncheon)
- Observe George Washington’s Birthday, Flag Day, and Memorial Day
- Commitment of our American heritage
- 50th Vietnam Commemorative Partner
- Support the veterans at Bay Pines VA and C.W. Young VA Medical Center
- Support our troops overseas
