Our chapter meets from October through May. Although our many Snowbirds leave us for the summer, we have several less formal events during that time. We use those opportunities to have some fun, make new friends and socialize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 7, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hickory Bluff, NSDAR Daughters\nwere proud to be part of the dedication of Solaris Healthcare\u2019s Wall of Heroes,\na display that honors Solaris residents who served in the military. The\nunveiling and dedication of the wall took place on October 7, 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 9, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a proud morning and the\nculmination of a great amount of work on October 9, 2019 when the historic\nHickory Bluff Mound Marker was unveiled and dedicated. Representatives from\nFSSDAR and several local chapters joined Hickory Bluff Daughters and community\nnotaries at the dedication ceremony. It should be noted that erection of the\nmarker was made possible through the sponsorship of Hickory Bluff Chapter,\nNSDAR, and HB\u2019s partnership with the Charlotte County Historical Center\nSociety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 10, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those in attendance at the\nOctober 10, 2019 meeting of Hickory Bluff Chapter, NSDAR, were the lucky\nrecipients of a tour of the DAR schools. Featured speaker Carole Cornell led\neveryone on an adventure and drove the yellow school bus that transported everyone\nvirtually from school to school. Each stop along the way brought information\nand insights about the six DAR schools. Carole is the Florida State DAR\nCo-Chair for DAR schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brewster Baker Society, CAR,\nPresident, Alex Chenger, presented information about Brewster Backer Society,\nits programs, and how Hickory Bluff Daughters can become involved with the CAR\nsociety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New members inducted at the\nOctober 10 meeting were new Karen Brooks, Kathleen Casagranda, and Darylann\nWagner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfer members recognized at\nthe October 10 meeting were Jean Fleming, Sharon Goding, Julia Lozano, Susan\nMatthews, and Ruth Wagley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 11, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honor of the National Day of\nService, on October 11, two teams of HB Daughters expressed their thanks and\nappreciation to the dedicated workers at Englewood and Port Charlotte Tidewell\nHospices. In addition to heartfelt personal recognition expressed by the HB\nDaughters, sweet treats were provided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 17, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 17 HB Daughters had\nthe privilege of welcoming 71 new U.S. citizens. Both HB Regent Debi Allen, and\nHB Honorary Regent Valerie Colbert gave words of encouragement to the new\ncitizens. Debi, Valerie, and Connie Cunningham shook the new citizens hands,\ncongratulated them, and presented them with goody bags. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 19, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 19 HB Daughters, in coordination with Brewster Baker Society members, manned a table at the 2019 Veteran Family Fun Day. Provided at the table were stickers and other goodies as well as information about Hickory Bluff and Brewster Baker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 26, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an enthusiastic, dedicated, and hard-working group who joined together early on Saturday, October 26 for the annual fall cleanup at the Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Gorgeous weather and many helping hands made for another successful Hickory Bluff historical preservation undertaking. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

November 16, 2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, November 16 Charlotte Bay and Hickory Bluff DAR Chapters came together to sponsor a genealogy workshop focusing on supplemental patriots. The featured speaker was FSSDAR Volunteer Genealogist for Area 11 and HB Registrar Katherine Adamo. Attendees were treated to wonderful insights from Katherine to make their supplemental research easier and their supplemental DAR applications successful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
