The Marco Island Chapter, NSDAR, is based in Marco Island, Florida. We are a vigorous group of women with a wide variety of interests from many different locations and backgrounds. We share a common bond in our support for the objectives of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR): to preserve American history, to promote education, and to foster patriotism.<\/p>\n<p>The Marco Island Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on October 15, 1976, by fifteen hardworking, dedicated women. Since that time, we have grown into the thriving chapter that we are today, and we continue to grow. <a href=\"https:\/\/fssdar.com\/MarcoIsland\/contact-us\/\"><strong>Please join us!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Called the \u201cJewel of the Gulf,\u201d Marco is the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands measuring 4 miles by 6 miles with a sugary-sand, crescent-shaped beach.<\/p>\n<p>People have been \u201cdiscovering\u201d the island for centuries.\u00a0 For thousands of years Marco Island was home to the Calusa Indians who as late as the 16<sup>th<\/sup> century,\u00a0 drove out the plundering Conquistadors.\u00a0 Mysteriously, the Calusas abandoned the island and disappeared.\u00a0 Then in 1870, Captain W. T. Collier established the first permanent home on the island.\u00a0 In 1965, the Deltona Company developed Marco Island as a residential community for those who were looking for an escape from the cold and snowy winter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fssdar.com\/MarcoIsland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/VIS_Approval.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77\" src=\"https:\/\/fssdar.com\/MarcoIsland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/VIS_Approval.gif\" alt=\"VIS_Approval\" width=\"102\" height=\"154\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/fssdar.com\/MarcoIsland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Approved-Symanek-2013-2015.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-78\" src=\"https:\/\/fssdar.com\/MarcoIsland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Approved-Symanek-2013-2015-160x300.gif\" alt=\"Approved Symanek 2013 2015\" width=\"81\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome!
