
History:
The William Bartram Chapter was organized on October 9, 1984, and named after William Bartram.
William Bartram was born, April 22, 1739 – Death, July 22, 1823. He was an accomplished naturalist, a poetic writer, and a talented artist. He traveled widely, particularly in the southeastern United States. Florida held a special enchantment for him. He spent considerable time in Palatka and Putnam counties starting in May of 1774 through October of 1774.
