Celebrating our 125th year!

On February 25th the Maria Jefferson Chapter NSDAR, with our Chapter Regent at the helm, celebrated our 125th Anniversary. The event was held at the beautiful Alcazar Cafe, in the Lightner Museum’s originally designed indoor swimming pool. St. Augustine’s Honorable Mayor welcomed our guests. We were extremely pleased to have the Florida State Society  DAR (FSSDAR) Regent celebrate us with a prosecco toast for 125 years of community service. We were humbled by the attendance of the Vice President General & Honorary State Regents and the FSSDAR First and Second Vice Regents. These ladies represented our FSSDAR past and future leaders. We were extremely pleased to see the 130 guests who attended, including our Maria Jefferson members, National and Florida State Chairs, Sons of the American Revolution, Florida Chapter Regents and many guests who enjoyed the festivities and made for an awesome event.

To begin the event the US Naval Sea Cadets presented the colors. After the toast and invocation we dined on fresh salads and a buffet meal including Flank Steak with Gorgonzola, a delicious Artichoke Linguine served, green beans and mashed potatoes. We enjoyed a special cake decorated with 125 which had a raspberry and cream filling. Our very own Vice Regent gave a brief history of the Maria Jefferson Chapter’s 125 years and our special guest speaker, in the role of Henry Flagler, gave a unique presentation of St Augustine’s history. A huge thank-you and kudos go to our 125th committee chairlady for her diligent planning, direction and perseverance in leading.  Many chapter members worked on the beautiful floral centerpieces, served as table hostesses, staffed the check-in table, or took care to cut the cake. Our amazing HODARS assisted with parking and served as door greeters. Congratulations Maria Jefferson Chapter members! Fun was had by all!
