REGENT

The DAR is a service organization and we have a large variety of committees.   There are many ways to volunteer your service, from joining a committee, to participating in Charlotte Bay Chapter, NSDAR sponsored ceremonies such as presenting new Habitat for Humanity homeowners with a flag.

American HistoryPromote the American History Essay contests in schools and recognize outstanding teachers of American history.
American IndianEncourage awareness of American Indian affairs; promote financial assistance and educational aid to Native American youth through Bacone College and Chemawa School.
Chapter Achievement and Florida Honor RollMaintain records to show FSSDAR and NSDAR that we have met their requirement in specific categories for the Master Questionnaire.
Commemorative EventsCoordinate celebration of NSDAR observances that support historical, educational and patriotic objectives
Community Service AwardRecognize worth residents of the local community for outstanding achievement in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic and citizenship endeavors.
ConservationPromote wise use, repair, and restoration of the earth's resources.
DAR Good CitizensWork with local high schools to recognize and reward high school seniors who possess and exhibit the quality of DAR Good Citizens.
DAR SchoolsOur chapter supports the DAR schools by donating box tops, material supplies, and monetary gifts to help support the children.
FinanceAssist the Treasurer in preparing the annual budget to be presented to the chapter's board of directors for the coming year.
Flag of the USAPromotes strong patriotic feeling and respect for the American flag; presents the American flag to new Habitat for Humanity homeowners.
FundraisingRaise money for scholarships and other charitable donations of the chapter by organizing events and selling tickets for baskets with donated unique items. Also, members have an opportunity to contribute funds at each chapter meeting.
Genealogical RecordsCollect unpublished records of a genealogical nature and prepare for housing in the DAR Library in Washington, D.C.
GreetersWelcome members and guests to our meetings and maintain the guest register books.
Historic PreservationThe Historic Preservation Committee seeks to honor the nation's heritage, focus on the future and celebrate America. Charlotte Bay Chapter, NSDAR’s project is the maintenance of the Lt. Carl Bailey Cemetery in Punta Gorda.
Lineage ResearchThis committee has many years of experience in genealogy training and research to assist the prospective members with their applications as well as members with their supplements.
LiteracyPromote literacy in both children and adults
MembershipPromote membership in the DAR and serve as liaison between NSDAR and the chapter members.
National Defense and JROTCCollect and present articles of interest regarding national defense. Recognize patriotic JROTC cadets.
ProgramsThe vice regent chairs the committee to present suitable educational programs as recommended by NSDAR based on national topics of interest.
Public RelationsAssist with informing the public about the DAR objectives and activities.
Veterans AffairsOur chapter provides comfort items, reading materials, monetary support, and other material items as requested to support the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Nursing Home and the Veterans Transitional Housing unit in Punta Gorda.
Volunteer Information SpecialistsThis position maintains the chapter website and does many computer-related jobs as asked by the officers and chairmen.
