Our Chapter Mentioned in National DAR Newsletter

We are pleased to announce that Rufus Fairbanks Chapter was mentioned along with a photograph in the July/August 2014 National Daughters of the American Revolution Newsletter for our achievement in our Coupons for Troops project. This is an enormous honor! Please see the attached photo used in the article, also the article is transcribed below.

Rufus Fairbanks Chapter, Satellite Beach, Fla., is located next to Patrick Air Force Base, and chapter members are extremely proud of our military men and women. This year, DAR Project Patriot Chapter Chair Shirley Jaffe instituted a Coupons for Troops project. Upon learning that our overseas military may use expired coupons for up to a year past their expiration dates, the chapter got to work collecting coupons. The project attracted enthusiastic support: In slightly more than a month, Daughters collected 4,156 coupons! The chapter will keep this program going, as it is such an easy way to make a difference.

Next up for Rufus Fairbanks Chapter is the “Cruising the Seven Seas” fashion show fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will help to provide a $1,500 scholarship for a high school senior. Attendees will have a fabulous time seeing beautiful resort wear and having a delicious lunch.

Another person the chapter is very proud of is Chapter Regent Beth Dewey. Rufus Fairbanks Chapter believes it has the only Rappin’ Regent in the country. She was a hit at the Florida State Conference last year, and an encore performance is possible this year!
