Our Chapter
The Lake Wales Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). The chapter was organized on March 13, 1922, by 12 charter members and 11 years after the founding of the city of Lake Wales, Florida.
We come together to promote the objectives of the NSDAR, which are historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
Our chapter activities include:
- Honoring and serving our veterans
- Dedicating historical markers
- Promoting literacy
- Donating baby blankets
- Recognizing DAR Good Citizens
- Documenting and preserving genealogical records
- Supporting NSDAR and local schools
- Community outreach
- Participating in the naturalization ceremonies for new American citizens
- Awarding students American history essays, and excellence in Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) studies
- Recognizing community members for patriotism, community service, and Women in the Arts Recognition program
- Organizing and contributing to major restorations, commemorations, and memorials
Our members have researched their heritage; sometimes discovering remarkable stories about their ancestors. We enjoy good friendships and common interests, and continually promote the awareness of our national historical heritage.

Background information from the postcard used on top of the home page.

Description on the back of the postcard: Looking west on Park Avenue, one of the two main business streets in Lake Wales, Florida, with the Walesbilt, a ten-story modern hotel in the background. Lake Wales has grown from a settlement of only three or four housed in 1913 to a town of over 5,000 people in 1940. The famous Mountain Lake Singing Tower is about four miles from the center of town. The clock tower at the left was a gift from the Misses Sarah and Anne Kolb, winter residents at Mountain Lake.
