The NSDAR was founded in 1890 with the simple mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. These timeless, overarching principles keep the DAR strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world.
Our chapter members welcome all guests and prospective members to our meetings. If you desire to know if you have an American Revolutionary War Patriot in your family tree, we can help with your membership application. If you are interested in joining, please contact our registrar for more information. We would love to hear from you!
Who is Eligible:
We welcome any woman, eighteen years or older, who can prove her lineal descent from any individual who helped achieve American independence.
Your Patriot Ancestor:
Your ancestor is considered to be a Patriot if it can be demonstrated that they showed loyalty to the cause of the American Revolutionary War. Examples include and are not limited to serving as a sailor, soldier, or civil officer in one of the colonies or states as a recognized Patriot or they rendered material, medical, or food aid.
You can utilize the NSDAR Genealogical Research System (GRS) which is a combination of several extensive genealogical databases collected since 1890 and contains names of American Revolutionary War Patriots, both men and women, whose service between 1775 and 1783 has been established by the National Society.
